About House Number Luck

Clear feng shui for where your bed goes.

House Number Luck exists because a single question keeps coming up in bedroom and wellness forums again and again: "which way should my bed face?" The honest answer is rarely a compass reading — it's usually a handful of structural ideas about feeling safe, supported, and unbothered while you sleep.

We turned the traditional feng shui rules for bed placement into practical, prioritized checklists for real American bedrooms and apartments — where walls, doors, and windows don't always line up the way an ideal layout would like.

What we believe

  • Rules have a reason. Behind the language of qi and energy are genuinely useful ideas about sleep, comfort, and calm. We explain both.
  • You shouldn't have to buy anything. Almost every improvement is about moving what you already own.
  • Priority beats perfection. Small rooms mean trade-offs. We tell you which rule matters most first.
  • Your direction is personal. Beyond the universal rules, your Kua number picks out the sleep direction that fits you best.

A note on sources and honesty

Feng shui is a traditional practice with regional and lineage-based differences — the school we draw from (the Eight Mansions / Kua method) is one well-known approach, not a universal truth. We present it as useful guidance, never as medical or professional advice. If you have a sleep or health concern, talk to a clinician.

Who writes and reviews this site

Every guide here is written in-house by a small editorial team that researches feng shui and bedroom ergonomics across a mix of traditional sources (including Eight Mansions and classical placement texts) and modern commentary on sleep and room layout. Before publishing, each article is checked by a second reviewer against our editorial standards — a single person never ships a piece on their own.

We are not licensed architects, interior designers, or healthcare providers. Where a rule touches safety, wiring, or health, we flag it and steer you to a qualified professional rather than improvising advice.

Our editorial standards

  • Explain the reason, not just the rule. Behind the language of qi and energy there are often practical ideas about comfort, calm, and sight lines. We give you both and label which is which.
  • Say when it doesn't apply. American apartments, small rooms, and rented spaces rarely match an ideal plan. When a rule breaks down in a real room, we tell you — and give the next-best option.
  • No scaremongering, no absolute promises. If a claim has a strong traditional basis but no scientific proof, we say "traditional guidance," not "guaranteed to fix your sleep."
  • Correct errors openly. Spot a mistake? Tell us and we'll fix it and note the update date on the article.

Independence and honesty about money

House Number Luck runs no advertising, carries no sponsored posts, and earns no commission from any product we ever mention. That keeps one promise simple: the only thing we're trying to sell you is a better night's sleep, using furniture you already own. If that ever changes, we'll say so plainly on this page.
